  • Tag Rugby

    Fri 23 Mar 2018

On Wednesday 21st March, St. John’s Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby teams were invited to take part in a tournament at Chinnor Rugby Club. Both teams were placed into different pools, where we played the first round of 3 matches. The results were then calculated, and another set of matches were created. Again, we played 3 more matches, as well as against each other. This was a closely fought match, with St.John’s B winning 4-2 and as a result of this win, St.John’s B team won their pool with St.John’s A coming second.

Congratulations to all of the players who participated at the tournament and a huge thank you to all of the parents who came along and supported.

  • KS1 Cross Country

    Thu 15 Mar 2018

On Thursday 15th March some of our KS1 children competed in the Cross County event at Speen School. Our children all ran brilliantly. We had some great results and the children all really enjoyed the experience.

We had Ollie come 2nd for the Year 2 boys. And our Year 1 girls placed 4th (Lottie) 5th (Olivia) and 6th (Arabella).

Well done to all those who competed.

On the 15th March 2018 our Reception class chicks started to hatch. So far we have two chicks named Dave and Bob and we believe that our third chick (Bertie) is on his way!. The children (and staff) are all very excited by our new arrivals. Go to the Reception class page to see a video.

    Netball Report

On Thursday 8th March, the St John's, mixed boys and girls netball team went to play netball matches against two other teams; the other schools were Cedar Park and Highworth. We won the first match and lost the second with St John's coming second overall.

Our players did exceedingly well, considering the fact that there were some amazing players on the opponents team. Everyone enjoyed the matches and we home to have another game soon.

We would like to thank Miss Moulder for organising the match and everyone who came to support us.

  • Year 5 Food Technology

    Fri 09 Mar 2018

This term, Year 5 have been taking part in a new Adopt a School initiative with the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. The first session was all about tasting food and recognising different taste sensations. Children also learned about food groups and healthy eating. Some of the children took the Blindfold Challenge and tried to identify foods by feel and taste - there were some interesting answers! The project continues through to the Summer Term.

Many thanks to Mrs Bottomley for organising the project for Year 5.

  • World Book Day

    Thu 01 Mar 2018

It's World Book Day today and as it's a Snow Day, children will have plenty of time to work on their WORLD BOOK DAY CHALLENGE! Many of the children have been busy completing the tasks and are bringing in the photos to prove it! Some children have tried to complete '3 in 1'  but should remember each challenge requires 10 minutes of reading, so no cheating!

Reuben, Neve, Kelly May, Rowan and Holly  have sent us some impressive photos of their book cases. We would love to add some more. (Email your photos to the office or Mrs Rodbourne)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHALLENGE AND A COPY OF THE CHALLENGES CAN BE FOUND ON THE CHILDREN'S MENU.
