  • Celebration Assembly

    Thu 22 Feb 2018

Today's Celebration Assembly was a very busy one, showcasing the fantastic achievements of our children in and out of school. Smartest Child Awards, were given to the children from each class who are smartest in appearance. The class mascots for kind and thoughtful behaviour were also awarded. Two children received awards for their handwriting; Ollie (Y5) gained his Pen Licence which means that he is now able to use ink for all classwork. Medals and certificates were presented, by Mrs Grimsey, to KS 2 children who had represented the school at the recent  basketball competition at Princes Risborough Secondary School.

There were also awards and certificates presented for achievements out of school. Rose S and Olivia B had participated in the Chesham Arts Festival. Both were presented with a medal and certificate for their singing and Rose also received a cup for gaining  first place in the competition.

Henry B and Kieron B had been busy skiing at Half Term and both achieved first place in their races. Gracie was presented with an award for Dressage and Oliver M was given a bronze medal for his third place in a recent swimming gala.

The assembly concluded with reports from our House Captains and presentations by our JRSO's.

  • Year 2 Class Assembly

    Thu 08 Feb 2018

Today's Year 2 Class Assembly, was based on this term's Space topic. The event was well attended by parents who learned all about astronauts and the moon landings. Everyone spoke clearly and confidently and there was some lovely singing. The children also presented some of the work they had been doing including some eye-catching planets.

Thank you to children and staff who produced the assembly and to the family and friends who attended.

  • Buckinghamshire Schools Cross Country Championships at The Cottesloe School

Thu 08 Feb 2018 Miss Moulder
On a very cold Wednesday morning, St.John's cross country runners were invited to participate in the Buckinghamshire Schools Cross Country Championships at The Cottesloe School, Wing.
We were well presented with 13 runners across Year 5 and 6.
It was a challenging mile course, with hills, bridges and gates to negotiate. All of the athletes ran with great enthusiasm and represented the school to the highest standard and should be very proud of themselves.
A huge congratulations to Anna who finished in the top 10 girls out of 110 as well as Harry, James, Ronnie and Reuben who finished in the top 10 boys out of 130. As a result, they have all been selected for the English School Cross Country Championships in Leeds. As a school, St.John's girls team finished 4th out of 13 schools with an average time of 35:27 and the boys coming 1st out of 17 schools with an average time of 29:34.

Thank you to all the parents who helped with transport and supported the children on a very chilly day! A huge well done to all who ran.
  • Reception Zoolab visit

    Wed 07 Feb 2018

On Tuesday 6th February, our Reception children were visited by Zoolab as part of their mini beasts topic.

During the course of the afternoon they got to stroke some giant snails (named Shelly and Sheldon), peeked in at a tarantula (Matilda) and handled a hissing cockroach (aka Dora the Explorer). The highlight of the afternoon was when they met a  very friendly corn snake named Tata. The bravest of our children (and staff) stroked or held Tata whilst the rest were happy to watch from a distance.

The children all really enjoyed the visit and had great hands on experience. Thank you to the parents for supporting this activity.
