  • Princes Risborough Gym and Dance Festival

    Sun 17 Jul 2016
St John's was well represented this year at the annual Gym and Dance Festival, held at Princes Risborough School. The event took place over two evenings and gym and dance groups from local schools participated. The Rise and Shine Dance Club, led by Miss Henley, performed a lively dance routine which involved much audience participation. Members of the Year 5 and 6 Gym Club performed a routine to Palladio which was based on their own original ideas and was choreographed by the girls themselves. Our final group was from our Friday morning dance club which is run by Miss Natalie Harries. This was another lively routine in disco style.  All our groups achieved a high standard in their performances which were very much enjoyed by the audience. The children have received some lovely comments from those parents who attended.

Congratulations to all those who took part and many thanks to the staff for their hard work in producing the displays.

  • KS 2 Sports Day

    Fri 15 Jul 2016
A very successful KS2 Sports Day took place on Friday. This year, the competition for the House Cup was very close and it took the final relay events before a clear winner emerged. Once again, Eagles were the winning house with Kestrels a very close second! Conditions were very good on the day and a number of school records were broken.

At the end of the morning, cups were presented to the Year 6 boy and girl who have made an outstanding contribution to sport at St John's. This year, the boy's cup was shared by Raphael B and Jack D. Jessica C was awarded the girl's cup. All award winner's are not only talented at sport, but also are team players who encourage and support others as outstanding role models. Congratulations to all our winners.

Many thanks to the staff who ensured that the morning ran smoothly and to the PA who provided refreshments.

  • Queen's Birthday Celebrations

    Fri 01 Jul 2016
We ended our theme week with a celebration lunch and an afternoon of activities. The whole school enjoyed a street party style lunch which started with the singing of The National Anthem followed by Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth. After Mrs Grimsey had said Grace, children and staff all ate lunch together. As you can see from our photos, this was a very memorable event. Many thanks to the parents who helped staff to decorate the playground and set up and clear away.

After lunch, the children enjoyed a range of traditional activities including Country Dancing, Playground Games and decorating crowns. Children were also able to enjoy a cream and jam scone with a drink of real lemonade which had been made by Year 6.
A fantastic event enjoyed by all.
