  • RE Easter Theme Day

    Mon 27 Mar 2017

Today has been our RE Easter Theme Day. Children have been exploring the meaning of the Easter story and looking at the symbolism associated with it. Some thoughtful writing and poetry has been produced by some of the children and a range of creative activities have been taking place. Art work, based on the symbol of the cross, has been  developed by a number of classes. This has included painting, collage, clay and textiles. Year 5 made hot cross buns and Year 6 made chilli and chocolate brownies, reflecting on the bitterness of pain and the sweetness of the resurrection.

Thank you to all staff and parents who helped to make the day so successful.

  • British Heart Foundation - Skipping Fundraising Event

    Fri 24 Mar 2017

Our skipping fundraising event proved to be very popular on Friday, with children having fun at the same time as supporting this very worthy cause. We are hoping that the children will continue to enjoy skipping at break times, particularly now that the weather is improving and we are able to use the field.

To date we have raised over £800, which is a fantastic achievement!

Many thanks to all those who have donated.

  • Strings Concert

    Thu 23 Mar 2017

During the Spring Term our year 2 children have been learning the violin as a class. The lessons have been given by our strings teacher, Mrs Laughton and today a concert was held to show just how far the children had progressed. Year 2 performed in front of the school and the event was well attended by parents. The children demonstrated some of the games and activities that help them to hold their instruments correctly and they were able to show just how much they had learned in only a few weeks. It is hoped that after this taster session, many of the children will be inspired to take up an instrument in Year 3. During the concert, Year 2 were joined by some of the older children who learn stringed instruments at school.

Many thanks to Mrs Laughton for her work with the children.

  • Sponsored silence - Miss Moulder

    Wed 22 Mar 2017

On Wednesday 22nd March Miss Moulder’s class took part in a sponsored silence for our school charity, ‘Save the Children.’ All of the class took part and found lots of inventive ways of communicating with each other! They were very relieved to see the clock hit 3:15! As a class, we have raised a total of £716.25 for the charity. Thank you very much to all of the children for raising the money and to the sponsors for sponsoring.

  • Royal Albert Hall Performance

    Tue 21 Mar 2017

Monday's performance at the Echoes 7 Concert, was a fantastic success. Our Year 5 pupils took part in the first half of the concert where the schools forming the choir sang beautiful harmonies under the direction of Helen Mitchell. During the second half, Year 5 sat in the arena and watched schools, who had been involved in whole class instrument learning, perform a specially written piece. The finale, performed by all the children, was another specially commissioned piece which included actions.

Our children sang beautifully and behaved well throughout the day.

Helen Mitchell complimented our school on their singing:

Message from Helen Mitchell to Mrs Insley:

Thank you and thank you again as always - a strong, assured sound constantly being fed in to my right ear - so glad they all enjoyed it - I did!!!
Huge congratulations to your singers from me. :))

We have also received many compliments from parents who attended the event and who appreciated the opportunity given to the children. Many thanks to Mrs Insley for all her hard work in preparing the children; to Mrs Hodghton and Miss Hughes for supporting the children with rehearsals and to the staff who accompanied the children on the day.
