  • Football Club Report -

    Fri 18 Mar 2016
The Football Club have been playing matches this term and have written this report:

This year the Year 5/6 football team took part in two football matches and we won both. The first fixture was against Monks Risborough and the second was against Princes Risborough Primary School. In each fixture we played two matches for each team because we had two teams. as a team we passed well and communicated well, ensuring all were involved. We scored some great goals and are really proud of our achievements.

Kani and Joe - Year 6

We would like to thank all parents who supported the teams and to Miss Westerman for organizing the matches.
Many thanks to Mr Kemp and Mr Collet- Fenson for coaching the teams and to everyone else who supported them.

  • Mothering Sunday

    Mon 07 Mar 2016
    Mothering Sunday Service

Families from St John's School were delighted to join the congregation of St John's for a special Mothering Sunday service on 6th March, led by Reverend Tony.

A group of Year 6 children, Beth, Jessica E, Nicholas and Libby, joined ex-pupils to play a ukulele accompaniment to, 'He's got the whole world in his hands,' accompanied by a large team of children from across the school on percussion instruments.

All the children joined forces with the Junior Church Choir to sing a Mothering Sunday anthem, 'Thank you for the love'.  (The highpoint for mums in the congregation was undoubtedly the line, "Show us how to love, so that we don't infuriate!").  The service had been planned to incorporate hymns that were familiar to the children of St John's, and included a setting of the Lord's Prayer that they've recently learnt in school as part of their work with Reverend Tony.

The icing on the cake, was, quite literally, the beautifully decorated and delicious cakes that were served at the end of the service.  What a lovely ending to an uplifting service!

Many thanks to all those who attended and to Mrs Insley for organizing the participation of the St John's children.

  • World Book Day

    Thu 03 Mar 2016
World Book Day was celebrated at St John's with a special morning assembly at which the winners of our postcard competition were presented with their prizes.

At the start of the afternoon, the staff went to visit a class that they do not normally teach. There they read a favourite book to the children. Later on, children from years 5 & 6 shared books with children in the First School, a really enjoyable event. At the end of the day, all children were presented with a £1 book voucher to use when next purchasing a book. Some took advantage of this, after school, at the visiting Usbourne Book Stall.

We are pleased to report that as a result of the success of the book sale, the school has received £100 worth of books!
